New parking lot meters have been installed in most of the Downtown’s 27 parking lots. Along with the new meters come new charges. Parking fees jump from $2 to $3.
Most lots have more free parking time limits. Up from 2 hours free to 3 hours free. After 3 hours the fee is $3 (currently $2) from 7am to 7pm. After 7pm there is a flat $1 parking fee. These rates will be in effect 24 hours a day, seven days per week.
The new machines are designed to accept paper currency as well as credit cards.
VERY IMPORTANT…you MUST check in at the machine when you park. Punch in your space number and tell the machine how long you plan to park. If you do not do this, you are likely to get a parking ticket.
